On September 9, all the Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors sat down and wrote essays to gauge Woodside students’ writing abilities. The prompts were student-written so that students would be responding to questions that really interested them. This day, dubbed Woodside Writes, was developed per a suggestions by the last WASC review. The goal was for all teachers, not just English teachers, to know the level at which Woodside students are writing, and also to give teachers a chance to get to know their students better.
Five winners were selected based on the quality of their essays, spelling and mechanics excluded. The first place winner received an iPod shuffle, $25 Amazon gift card, and publication in the magazine. Below are the links to all the top essays.
